PALS Skills Check Off for Online Course
The American Heart Association now offers online PALS training. The student will go to http://www.onlineAHA.org to take the online course Heartcode PALS Part 1. This will take about 7.5 hours to complete. (There is a fee paid to AHA for this online portion seperate from the fee for the skills check off paid to NWRTC). After successfully completing the online course, the student should print out their completion certificate and bring this document, along with your current PALS Provider card (if you have one) to the Northwest Regional Training Center, where you will undergo skills evaluation. After successfully completing skills assessment, students will be issued a PALS Provider certification, valid for two years. If you do not pass the skills portion you will be asked to take a two day provider course.
Prerequisites: Must have completed the online course and bring Certificate of Completion to NWRTC the day of the skills evaluation.
Be prepared to show proficiency in pediatric assessment/treatment scenarios as team leader and team member. Must be comfortable with ECG rhythm identification, related pharmacology and the systematic approach to pediatric assessment using the evaluate-identify-intervene model.
